Qantas Retires A380s, Adds Carry-On Fees as Fuel Costs Climb

Qantas will retire its Airbus A380 superjumbos and, from next year, limit basic-fare passengers to one under-seat bag, charging for anything beyond that. The US-Iran conflict added $610m in fuel costs, dragging pre-tax profit to a four-year low of $2.06bn. CEO Vanessa Hudson is restructuring for permanently higher fuel prices, not a passing spike.
