Qantas Ditches Its Biggest Planes and Starts Charging for Carry-On Bags

Qantas is retiring its largest planes, the Airbus A380s, and from next year will let basic-ticket passengers bring only one small bag under the seat — anything more costs extra. The recent US-Iran conflict raised Qantas's fuel bill by $610m, pushing profit to a four-year low of $2.06bn. CEO Vanessa Hudson says she is planning for fuel prices that stay high, not dip back down.
