Netherlands to become first EU state banning settlement imports
On 22 September 2026, the Netherlands will enforce a three-year ban on importing, buying and selling goods from Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank and Golan Heights — the first binding national measure of its kind by an EU member state. The move follows the 2024 ICJ advisory opinion calling Israel's presence in occupied Palestinian territory unlawful. EU foreign ministers remain divided on a bloc-wide equivalent.
