Netherlands to become first EU state banning imports from Israeli settlements

The Netherlands will on 22 September 2026 enforce a three-year ban on importing, buying and selling goods from Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank and Golan Heights — the first such binding national measure by an EU member state. It follows the 2024 ICJ advisory opinion calling Israel's presence in occupied Palestinian territory unlawful. EU foreign ministers remain divided on a bloc-wide equivalent.
