Canada Sets 15–50% Counter-Tariffs on U.S. Goods for September 8
Canada will impose counter-tariffs of 15, 25, and 50 percent on U.S. goods starting September 8, 2026, matching Washington's tariffs dollar for dollar. Bilateral trade talks collapsed in late August after a brief White House duty suspension failed to bridge gaps. No further talks are scheduled. Both tariff regimes take effect the same day.
