Canada Hits U.S. Products with New Trade Taxes Starting September 8

Starting September 8, 2026, Canada will place taxes of 15, 25, or 50 percent on U.S. products — matching what Washington charges Canadian goods. Trade talks fell apart in late August after a short U.S. pause on its taxes didn't help. No new talks are planned. Both countries' taxes begin the same day.
