Driverless taxi rules unfinished as UK pushes 2026 trials

TfL hasn't issued approval guidance for fully driverless taxis and says it won't accept applications "for some time," even as the UK government fast-tracks fully driverless commercial trials to spring 2026. Uber and Wayve hold London's first self-driving minicab licences, but only with a human safety driver. Waymo and Baidu are also circling the market.
