
Parliament finds MBIE deliberately misled MPs, no sanction recommended
Parliament's Privileges Committee — which investigates breaches of parliamentary rules — found MBIE deliberately misled MPs and committed a contempt of Parliament. Chief executive Nic Blakeley and former Immigration NZ head Alison McDonald failed to disclose a cancelled biometric upgrade project in March. The committee called their incomplete answers "intentional" but recommended no further sanction, as both had publicly apologised.
