Parliament rules MBIE deliberately misled MPs in contempt finding

The Privileges Committee has found MBIE deliberately misled MPs and committed a contempt of Parliament. In March, chief executive Nic Blakeley and former Immigration NZ head Alison McDonald failed to disclose a cancelled biometric upgrade project. The committee said the incomplete answers were "intentional" but recommended no further sanction, as both officials had publicly apologised.
