Nepal Police Record Over 25,500 Rape and Abuse Cases in Eight Years

Nepalese police logged more than 25,500 rape and sexual abuse complaints from July 2017 to July 2025. Over 3,200 victims were girls under 10. The data emerged during protests after the rape and killing of three-year-old Garima Chaudhary in Bara district, pushing the government to pledge a review of laws on serious crimes.
