Nepal Police Data: Over 25,500 Rape and Sexual Abuse Cases in Eight Years, 3,200+ Victims Under Age 10

Nepalese police data shows more than 25,500 rape and sexual abuse accusations were filed between July 2017 and July 2025. Over 3,200 female victims were under age 10. The figures surfaced amid nationwide protests over the rape and murder of three-year-old Garima Chaudhary in Bara district, which prompted a government pledge to review laws on serious offences.
