Nepal: Over 25,500 Rape and Abuse Cases Reported in Eight Years, Police Say

Police in Nepal recorded more than 25,500 reports of rape and sexual abuse from July 2017 to July 2025. Over 3,200 victims were girls under 10. The numbers came out during protests after three-year-old Garima Chaudhary was raped and killed in Bara district, leading the government to promise it will review its laws on serious crimes.
