Quebec election called for Oct. 5 with five parties in contention
Premier Christine Fréchette is expected to launch Quebec's election campaign this week for an Oct. 5, 2026, vote. Poll aggregator Philippe Fournier says five parties could win seats — a first since 1976 — raising the odds of a minority government, where no party holds a majority. The Parti Québécois leads but its margin has narrowed, with 49 per cent of voters still movable.
