Dutch Regulator Fines Uber €825M Over Automated Driver Suspensions

The Dutch Data Protection Authority fined Uber €825M ($966M) for suspending drivers through automated decisions without adequate human oversight — GDPR's second-largest penalty to date. Two prior Dutch fines of €290M and €10M bring Uber's cumulative total past €1.1 billion. Deputy chair Monique Verdier called the infringements "serious." Uber will appeal.
