GPS restriction zones for serious offenders to begin in October

Justice Secretary Alex Norris said serious sexual and violent offenders on probation — those released early but supervised — will face GPS-monitored areas a few miles wide from October. Breaches could mean recall to prison. Unlike current exclusion zones, which ban specific locations, these plans confine offenders to a defined area. Each is tailored to the individual and developed with victims.
