New GPS restriction zones for serious offenders on probation to launch in October

Justice Secretary Alex Norris announced that from October, serious sexual and violent offenders on probation can be confined to restricted areas a few miles wide, monitored by GPS. Breaches could trigger recall to prison. The scheme goes beyond current exclusion zones, which ban offenders only from specific locations. Plans are tailored to each offender and developed with victims.
