ACT's $2 billion cancer centre pledge
ACT has pledged a $2 billion national cancer centre with campuses in Auckland and Christchurch if re-elected in November. The policy would be funded through public-private partnerships — private firms helping finance public facilities — plus donations and Crown health investment. It began as an off-the-cuff remark by list candidate Paul Henry and was adopted before the party's South Island campaign launch in Christchurch on 21 August.
