Dutch Regulator Hits Uber with €825M GDPR Fine Over Automated Driver Bans

The Dutch data protection authority fined Uber €825 million under the GDPR — Europe's privacy law — for using automated systems to deactivate driver accounts without adequate notice or human review. Spanning 2018–2022, it is the second-largest GDPR penalty ever. Uber will appeal. A Swiss digital-rights group is preparing a class action for affected drivers.
