Hong Kong Convicts Tiananmen Vigil Leaders Under National Security Law Applied Retroactively

A Hong Kong court convicted former Alliance leaders Lee Cheuk-yan, 69, and Chow Hang-tung, 41, of "incitement to subversion" for organizing Tiananmen vigils — conduct predating the 2020 national security law. The same vigils drew earlier public-order convictions. Both face up to ten years. Sentencing is pending.
