Hong Kong Court Convicts Tiananmen Vigil Leaders Under Retroactive National Security Charges

A Hong Kong court found former Alliance leaders Lee Cheuk-yan, 69, and Chow Hang-tung, 41, guilty of "incitement to subversion" for organising Tiananmen commemoration vigils — conduct that predates the 2020 national security law. The same vigils drew earlier public-order convictions. Both now face up to ten years. Sentencing is pending.
