Nevada Approves 5,000-Vehicle Tesla Robotaxi Permit, Weeks After Capping Fleet at 10

Nevada's Transportation Authority unanimously approved a Tesla robotaxi permit for up to 5,000 vehicles in Clark County on August 20, 2026. Weeks earlier, the same agency had capped Tesla at 10 vehicles, limited speeds to 45 mph, and barred airport operations. Tesla's Cybercab engineering lead expects deployment closer to 2,500 vehicles within the year. Waymo and Uber each received 1,000-vehicle permits.
