Nevada Approves 5,000-Vehicle Tesla Robotaxi Permit Weeks After Capping Fleet at 10

On August 20, 2026, Nevada's Transportation Authority unanimously approved a Tesla robotaxi permit authorizing up to 5,000 vehicles in Clark County. On July 27, the same agency had capped Tesla at 10 vehicles, limited speeds to 45 mph, and barred airport operations. Tesla's Cybercab engineering lead expects deployment closer to 2,500 vehicles within the year. Waymo and Uber each received 1,000-vehicle permits.
