HoverAir Seeks a Regulatory Workaround by Certifying Only Its Drone's Camera Module

HoverAir's Aqua drone was blocked by the FCC's December 2025 foreign-drone ban. Its new Versa model takes a different path: the FCC certified only the camera module on August 9, since it contains the radio. The FCC's own FAQ calls cameras a UAS critical component under the Covered List. The agency has not yet ruled on the approach.
