Older Adults Face Greater Heat Risk at 1.5°C Warming Than Young Adults at 4°C

Stanford researchers found adults 65 and older face more dangerous heat exposure at 1.5°C of warming than younger adults do at 4°C. Older bodies reach "uncompensable heat stress"—where cooling mechanisms fail—at lower temperatures. Imperial College London's Chris Mullington says prior models, assuming everyone tolerated heat like a healthy young adult, substantially underestimated elderly risk.
