A peer-reviewed study found "substantial" ethical and legal problems in 853 articles (1994–2024) from Didier Raoult's IHU Marseille. Raoult co-authored 758. Researchers repeatedly reused ethics approvals — permission panels grant for one study, not many — violating French and European clinical research law. French prosecutors had already opened a criminal investigation into the institute.
