Labour pulls streaming levy bill, cites administrative oversight

Labour withdrew a member's bill — a backbencher's proposed law — for a streaming levy after leader Chris Hipkins ruled one out. Deputy leader Carmel Sepuloni blamed an "administrative oversight" for the mixed messaging and confirmed Labour will not campaign on the levy. The coalition government had separately considered a levy but decided not to pursue it.
