Tesla Targets August 2026 for Steering-Wheel-Free Cybercab in Austin

Tesla plans to deploy its Cybercab robotaxi — a two-seater with no steering wheel or pedals — on Austin public roads as early as August 2026. Employee rides will precede integration into Tesla's Robotaxi service. The vehicle's sole external safety fallback is a remote operator, with Starlink hardware recently added to shore up connectivity.
