Tesla to Launch Steering-Wheel-Free Cybercab on Public Roads in Austin

Tesla is preparing to launch its Cybercab robotaxi — a two-seater with no steering wheel or pedals — on public roads in Austin, Texas, as soon as August 2026. Rides will start with employees before integration into Tesla's existing Robotaxi service. The vehicle's only external safety fallback is a remote operator, with Starlink hardware recently added to address connectivity concerns.
