Calgary police asked the Canada Border Services Agency on Aug. 12 to verify the immigration status of four people at a student protest. CBSA broadened the checks to 20. Twelve were flagged as possibly inadmissible under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act — the law governing who may enter or remain in Canada — and told to report for follow-up interviews. Migrant advocates want an inquiry.
