Wetherspoon Bans Phone Audio in All 792 Pubs
JD Wetherspoon has prohibited customers from playing music or taking calls on phone and tablet speakers across all 792 pubs, asking them to use earphones or silence devices. The chain cited noise complaints driving patrons "nuts." Founder Tim Martin called the pubs "an oasis of tranquillity and contemplation." No enforcement mechanism was outlined.
