Wetherspoon Bans Loud Phone Audio Across All 792 Pubs

JD Wetherspoon has banned customers from playing music or taking calls on phone and tablet speakers across all 792 of its pubs, asking them to switch devices to silent or use earphones. The chain cited growing complaints about noise that was driving customers "nuts." Founder Tim Martin called the pubs "an oasis of tranquillity and contemplation." No enforcement mechanism was outlined.
