Pub Chain Bans Loud Phone Noise in All Its Bars

Wetherspoon, a pub chain with 792 locations, now bans customers from playing music or taking calls on phone speakers. People must silence devices or use earphones. The chain said noise complaints were driving customers "nuts." Founder Tim Martin called his pubs "an oasis of tranquillity and contemplation." No plan for enforcing the rule was announced.
