Labor and Coalition cut a deal on gambling ads — but no total ban
Labor and the Coalition have agreed to pass the Interactive Gambling Amendment Bill 2026 — restricting wagering ads, not banning them. That's 1,149 days after Peta Murphy's review urged a total ban. Stadium and jersey ads go, online ads get a 'triple lock', and an opt-out register starts — all from 1 January 2027. The government says reform; Murphy's recommendations say not enough.
