Cross-Border Fire in Lebanon Surges Despite Ceasefire, Civilian Deaths Rise

UNIFIL, the UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon, reports an average of 137 projectiles daily struck the country August 5–16, peaking at 208 on August 15. Eleven civilians died in Israeli air raids that day. Since March 2, 4,346 have died — even after a US-brokered June 26 ceasefire and seven rounds of talks failed to stop the violence.
