Atlantic front set to break 62-day drought in southern England

Southern England's longest recorded dry spell — 62 consecutive days at the Met Office's Wisley station — may end overnight into 18 August 2026. An Atlantic cold front (a boundary of cooler air pushing east) should deliver the first real rain since 16 June, when just 0.4mm fell. The front weakens heading south, leaving totals uncertain.
