Penk loses all portfolios and will leave Parliament after failed leadership bid

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon stripped Defence Minister Chris Penk of all portfolios after Penk challenged him for the leadership. Luxon survived a confidence vote at an urgent National caucus meeting and called his team united. Penk said he will not seek re-election in his Kaipara ki Mahurangi seat.
