Minister sacked and quitting after trying to replace the Prime Minister

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon fired Defence Minister Chris Penk from all his government roles after Penk tried to replace him as leader. Luxon won a vote of support from National MPs at an emergency meeting and called his team united. Penk said he will not stand for his Kaipara ki Mahurangi seat at the next election.
