Morocco Cracks Down on Migrants Near Ceuta After Mass Crossing Calls
Moroccan forces arrested hundreds of migrants near Ceuta on 15–16 August 2026, including 294 sub-Saharan Africans and 111 near Fnideq, after social media calls for a mass border crossing. Sixty-one Moroccans were arrested for facilitating migration. This follows late July's surge of over 72,000 migrants, which killed at least 90 on both sides of the border.
