Four Antonello da Messina Panels Stolen from Sicilian Museum

On 15 August 2026, Italy's Ferragosto holiday, thieves bypassed alarms at Messina's Museo Regionale Interdisciplinare and stole four Renaissance wood panels by 15th-century master Antonello da Messina. The panels came from two separate works. The museum director called them "the most important works." Investigators are pursuing the case.
