Stanford backs Luxon, rules out leadership challenge

Education Minister Erica Stanford told reporters on 16 August she "categorically supports" Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and will not seek the leadership. The comments ended speculation after she initially declined to back Luxon following a failed challenge by former defence minister Chris Penk — Luxon's second confidence vote in four months. Stanford said she wants to stay on as Education Minister for nine years.
