S-21 Survivor Bou Meng Dies at 85, Leaving Few Living Witnesses to Khmer Rouge Killings

Bou Meng, one of only seven known adult survivors of the Khmer Rouge's S-21 prison in Phnom Penh, has died at 85. At least 12,000 people were tortured and killed there. For years he stood in the rooms where he was held, speaking directly to visitors at the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum. His death further shrinks the already tiny cohort of living witnesses.
