Morocco blocks second mass crossing attempt at Ceuta border

Moroccan forces detained 111 migrants near Fnideq, 3km from Ceuta, on 15 August 2026 — the second mass crossing attempt in two weeks. On 31 July, about 78,000 migrants reached the Spanish enclave by sea in hours; 100 died. Ceuta's population is roughly 85,000. Both Spain and Morocco had reinforced security after spotting social-media calls for a repeat.
