
Powerful Earthquake Off Indonesia Prompts Tsunami Warning
A magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck 68 km northwest of Ende, Indonesia, at 10 km depth on August 14. Indonesia's geological agency (BMKG) issued a tsunami warning for East Nusa Tenggara province, urging coastal residents to higher ground. Two aftershocks followed. Australia reported no tsunami threat to its territory. No casualties were immediately reported.
