Federal Courts to Disclose Spyware Wiretap Counts in 2029

The U.S. Courts will begin publicly tracking how often federal judges authorize spyware and hacking tools for wiretaps. A new category appears in the 2028 Wiretap Report, published in 2029. The FBI has used such techniques since at least 1998 with no public count. Senator Ron Wyden pressed for disclosure since 2017.
