São Paulo police recover stolen Matisse engravings, three detained

São Paulo Civil Police recovered eight Henri Matisse engravings — prints carved into metal plates — valued above R$1 million, eight months after a daylight library robbery in December 2025. Three suspects were detained. Police suspect the works may have already been sold. Five Portinari pieces stolen in the same heist remain unrecovered.
