Apple issues largest-ever mercenary spyware alerts, reaching users in 110 countries

Apple has sent mercenary spyware attack notifications to users across 110 countries — the widest scope in its threat-notification program's history. The figure climbed from 92 countries in April 2024 to 84 in December 2025 to 110 now. Citizen Lab's John Scott-Railton first surfaced the alerts. Apple also updated its notification interface and published a new support page with mitigation steps.
