Tauranga landslides inquiry gives public three more weeks to submit

The Government Inquiry into the Tauranga landslides has extended its public submissions deadline by three weeks to 4 September. Sir Mark O'Regan chairs the inquiry into two landslides on 22 January 2026 that killed eight people — six at Mauao, two at Pāpāmoa. Evidence such as drone footage, photos and rain gauge data can be uploaded via the Department of Internal Affairs portal.
