Tauranga landslides inquiry gives public more time to share what they know

People now have until 4 September to share what they know about the Tauranga landslides. The official investigation, led by former judge Sir Mark O'Regan, is looking into two landslides on 22 January 2026 that killed eight people — six at Mauao, two at Pāpāmoa. Photos, videos and rainfall records can be uploaded through a Department of Internal Affairs website.
