RSF launches multi-front offensive across Sudan in 48 hours

On 12–13 August 2026, the RSF hit five army-held cities with drones, assaulted North Kordofan with a 250-vehicle column, and joined SPLM-N forces pushing into Kurmuk, a strategic town on Ethiopia's border. The army repelled the Kordofan attack but began withdrawing from Kurmuk. Two died in el-Obeid.
