
Tomago deal puts Albanese metals subsidies near $7 billion
The $2.5 billion Tomago aluminium smelter deal is Labor's third heavy-industry rescue — after $2 billion for Rio Tinto's Boyne smelter and $2.4 billion for Whyalla steelworks. That's nearly $7 billion in public money keeping domestic metals production alive, all tied to cutting emissions.
